Christmasy Stuff and This and That

Good Morning !
I hope everyone has had a good week.
Mine has actually been a fairly productive one. We had that storm pass thru here beginning last Sunday so I was able to stay home quite a bit and get some badly needed organizing done. I was finally able to go thru my stack of paper clutter, and rearrange and organize my craft room. I love being able to work in a clean, fresh space. When things are cluttered I have a hard time concentrating.

I got one of those embellishment shelves from Making Memories at Michaels on Black Friday. (It was the only place I went) All of their scrapbook storage items were 55% off! I had had my eyes on this for quite some time and when this sale came up I grabbed it, I just love a good deal, don't you?

It looked so pretty in the morning light today that I had to take a picture and share all the glittery goodness sparkling in the sun.
All of my Spookytime Jingles items are photographed and ready to be uploaded today for the update on the 13th. Here is one of the Christmas items. I also will have a few new Halloween Pieces this month.

And speaking of Spookytime Jingles, Have you seen the Tree we have on Ebay? If not you may want to check it out. It is amazing! Filled with over 44 OOAK ornaments from STJ Artists, it is at least a $1000.00 value. Imagine having that in your living room this year.

Time to get back to work, I have lots to do today.

A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, 'What are you thinking?' She doesn't care what you think. It's Beginning To Look Alot Like.......

Halloween?

This is what it looks like in our backyard this morning.

Yep, Mother Nature did it to us again here in Colorado.
We got a Halloween Blizzard.
Two days of pretty much non-stop snow. The good news is that it will melt pretty quickly and hopefully by tomorrow night the little ghouls and goblins won't have to wade thru too much snow to get their treats.
And speaking of Halloween, I wanted to show a redo of the fireplace mantel decor. I did some rearranging to add some new goodies I got this year.

I got black feather tree and hung skulls on it, I think it needs a few more.

I also have two new artist additions, The little Pumpkin Painting from Lisa hanging in front on the spider web. And just above and to the left a Spooky Theater from Dani. I just love them!!

And here is Mr Silver in his party hat that I won from the Wandering Witch contest on the EHAG Blog. It was made by Cathy and fits fits him perfectly!

Unfortunately that's all the Halloween I put out this year.

In other news I wanted to pass along a warning I received this morning from Jonty about a virus going around from an email supposedly from Face book. Please check out his post that will tell you all about it.

And with that I am off on my broom to fly thru the snow! Bwa Ha Ha!

You Know What I Love?

My computer. You know what I hate? My computer. It's a love/hate relationship. I'm sure a lot of you can relate. My laptop has been giving me fits for awhile now and last week finally crashed completely. So until it's fixed I have to do every thing from either my son' or work computer. You just don't realize how much you depend on something til you can't use it.

Anyway , enough of my griping.

I also wanted to show a few WIPs and Halloween sneak peek for the upcoming Spookytime Jingles update next Tuesday on the 13th.

Also another Crypt piece. The one behind it may not be ready for the update so will have to go in my Etsy.

Back From Somewhere.....

Hey all,
I'm back from where ever I have been lately. Can't believe I haven't posted in a month. So sorry.
I've been in rather a funk lately. I don't know how to describe it other than I have been super busy , but yet at the same time doing nothing at all ( or so it seems). Does that ever happen to you? When you get the feeling that time has passed you by and you don't know what you've been doing during it? It's kind of a blur? What is that?

Actually I think Perimenopause is to blame.
I have pretty much been having all of the above symptoms ( Plus a few more fun ones)
Ain't it grand being a woman?
And a middle aged woman to-boot!
This one here just about says it all.
Except they forgot the super duper heavy maxi tidal wave flow pads!

Yea, I've kind of felt like this too.

Oh well... Life goes on.
And ya gotta have a sense of humor about it too!

In other news, I just finished my tags for the Vintage Halloween Tag Swap hosted by Sarah of Gypsy Mermaid. Here's how they turned out.

We had to make 13 tags and send them to Sarah, where she will put 13 books together and ship back to each one of us. I'm so excited to see what everyone made!

Well that's it for now. I'm off to sit in front of a fan and get to work on some new stuff.

My Little Slice of Heaven

We have a little cabin in the mountains about an hour and a half drive southwest of Denver, Colorado, and every chance we get Hubby and I go up there to get away.

It's a small A-frame about 700 square feet, just right for a little weekend getaway. It sits on 2 acres, and the best part is it borders national forest so everything to east of us is open land as far as you can see. Here is the gorgeous view from the deck.

It is so quiet and peaceful. You just don't realize how noisy and stressful the city is until you get up here. The only thing you hear is the birds, wind and the occasional airplane flying over head.
We are hoping to build a larger place someday and live up here in the Summer and hopefully Mexico in the winter. This is still a ways off in the future. Right now there is still work, getting the boys thru college, and trying to save up enough money for retirement. Of course I could move up here now and do my thing. I just need to get the internet hooked up and bring all my stuff, there is plenty of room for just me and my things. Yea right, like that's going to happen any time soon. Oh well a girl can dream can't she? In the mean time I can enjoy this...

I haven't done a Pink Saturday post in a few weeks. Seems like the end of the week comes so fast lately. This our busy time of the year at work, so I haven't had much time to blog. Kitty Update

So Buster Kitty is doing really well. He got the outside hardware taken off his leg the other day.

Now he has to go back one more time to have an inside pin removed. Here he is sans metal.
Isn't he cute? He's getting so big and We have a hard time getting him to stay inside the office here. So in the mornings he can go out in front with some supervision. We don't want him breaking anything again.

Now on to other things. We have been really busy at work the last few weeks and then been doing yard work when home. Haven't had much time for art or blogging so I thought I'd better check. My friend Kim always lets me know when I haven't blogged in awhile.

So I thought I'd show a few pictures of my flowers that have bloomed. First off. I have these beautiful Irises that are so dark purple they are almost black. I just love them and wished they lasted all Summer.

Well I finally got a few new items made for my Etsy shop. These are some little bird houses I've had for awhile and finally decided to do something with. I think they turned out pretty cute. I love birds and feed them all year round at my house. There are few things nicer than waking up in the morning to the sweet sound of singing birds.

Well I have been waiting for some pictures before I posted the other 2 reasons why I hadn't blogged in a while, but I guess i'm going to be waiting a little longer. I was doing some sewing for people which kept me really busy after work and the weekend. First off I made a prom dress for one of my son's friends, It kind of kicked my butt cause I hadn't made anything that ambitious in a quite a few years. I turned out really nice though and she really liked it. When (and if) they send me the pictures I will post them. The other thing I was sewing was a jersey for a friends daughter. She is a dancer for the Denver Nuggets Basketball team and since they are in the playoffs the girls had to get a team jersey and remake it to wear to the games. That job was a pretty easy one at least, but I don't have any pictures of it either. So in stead I will post a picture of the other office cat.

Sleeping on the job again...... Must be nice.

In other news, Buster the Kitty is doing well. He had his two week checkup yesterday. They removed the staples and gave him another antibiotic shot. The hardware remains intact for now.

Excuse Number 1....

First in a series of why I didn't Blog for a few weeks.

No.1 Kitty Crisis
Before
This Buster,(Isn't he cute) he is our new Kitty we keep at the office at work. We have a lot of mice around here so cats are great to have around. He's a sweet , loving thing. We keep him inside since we have a lot of traffic and heavy equipment moving around outside. Well one day he got out and we couldn't find him. Later he came back dragging his rear leg, not crying or anything, but I knew something wasn't right. So next came a trip to the vet. Diagnosis-broken leg, and not just a little break but in half. Here is the X-ray.

I have no idea how he could have broken it like this. The vet said it looks like something heavy might have fallen on him. There was no outside injury so she didn't think he got run over. So anyway, it was Tuesday and the vet wouldn't be able to fix him until Thursday, then the next day the Vet's called and said that he canceled all his appointments for the week and I would have to find somewhere else to have the leg fixed. GREAT! So I spent a good part of the day calling around trying to find somewhere to take him. Let me tell you these Orthopedic Surgeons for animals is expensive. I was looking at $2000.oo to $3500.oo . Holy crap, I can't afford that. Finally I remembered a place where they do low cost spay and neuter and vaccines.They had me bring over the X-ray and called me later that evening. Yes they could fix Buster's leg, and Neuter him AND give him his shots... All for 400.00 to 500.00. Can you believe the difference? Now that was something we could work with. So I took him in Thursday morning and picked him up Friday afternoon all fixed and fixed.

So now he has this lovely hardware holding the bone together. There are actual metal pins in his leg and the opening is stapled closed underneath them. Looks like something from a sci-fi movie. We are supposed to keep him from jumping and running around, not easy to do with a kitten who wants to play all the time. But he's a trooper, he acts like there is nothing wrong and doesn't even mess with the hardware.
We'll see how it's going at his first check up the end of this week.

Good Day Everyone,
I joined Beverly's Pink Saturday and this my first time playing.
Hope you enjoy it!

First off is a vignette on one of the little side tables in my living room. These are all shells (except for the big one) that I gathered on the beach in Cancun. I put them in a silver tray with a little nest and pink mushroom bird, crackled white pot and pale pink rose ball.

A french label for you to copy and use however you wish.

Thar She Blows

It's a blizzard out there...
Well we are finally getting our much needed moisture. The last measurable snowfall we had here in Denver was January 12th. March is generally our snowiest month here followed by November, and so far we have had 0 snow this month til today.
This is what it looks like out the front door, snow has blown all the way to the stoop and that ring around the tree normally sticks up about a foot out of the grass.

This is looking out the front window. The little birds are hanging out at the feeder and the front porch. They don't seem too bothered by the storm.
We are all home snug and warm as the boys are on Spring break. Hmmm... this always seems to happen on Spring Break around here. Oh well, I think it's a good day to watch a movie and cuddle up by the fire.

Spookytime Jingles has been accepted into The National Halloween/ Haunters Convention at Valley Forge Convention Center!!

Not That Bad

Ok, so I guess my last post was a little cryptic. Denver isn't all that bad and there really are some lovely places here and in the mountains. I think I am just having a bad case of Spring fever, and we have had a really dry winter so I'm ready for some green.

Just to show another view of Denver, here is a picture of City Park looking towards the downtown area, and the mountains off to the west.
Of course this is in Summer, right now it is brown and dead.

Now on to something else that's pretty. I wanted to show one of my favorite Artists. Well two artists really, the husband and wife team of
Cart Before The Horse.

I have been following them for quite some time on E Bay and just recently found out they have a blog. This is one of their items on E Bay right now. I just love it!

I would love to bid on it, but just paid my son's tuition for the semester so I'm tapped out right now. That doesn't keep me from window shopping though. Check their other items out too, they are awesome.

Unfortunately this is what most of the city looks like all winter long, and some of the Summer if we have no rain.

Some of the mountain areas are a little better, but it doesn't get much greener than this.

This is where I wanna be....

Green, moist and cloudy, Ahh.

Or even Oregon

I definitely live the wrong state. Most of Colorado is dry, brown and just plain ugly except for areas of the mountains. Denver originally had no trees, we are on the plains just east of the Rocky Mountains. There was a lot of scrub brush and dry grasses and that's about it. Oh and a lot of sun. So if you like the Sunshine this is the place for you. Personally I get tired of the sun beating down on me all the time and at the high altitude it is brutal. I love the rain, and the green, and overcast days......

Ahh well, back to reality. Here's to dreaming of green places.

Been working on items for the next update of Spookytime Jingles and to restock my Etsy shops.

First Signs of Spring

Yay! The first flowers of Spring have begun to bloom. Here are some of the Daffodils in front of the office were I work (sometimes) my day job. This area faces south so it's very warm and the flowers bloom pretty early if we've had mild weather like we have this year. Not very impressive, but it's a start. The Hyacinths are ready to burst soon too, probably in another day or so. It's a beautiful day here and I want to play hooky and go for a walk in the park.

Ah well, better get back to work........

No Snow Monday and A Givaway

So last Monday it was snowing, today it is going to be 66 degrees or so. It's that crazy Colorado weather at work again.

Snow Day Monday

Happy Monday all,
Woke up to this today
Isn't it pretty. I love when the snow is falling, it's so peaceful and quiet. We really don't get a lot of snow here in Denver and when we do it melts away pretty fast, unless we are having an unusual cold snap. Right now the snow is pretty wet underneath and it is supposed to quit around noon. Tomorrow will be about 42 and sunny so the snow will go fast. So today I am going to enjoy it while it lasts.

Remodel Revealed

Hi Y'all,
Well here are some pictures of part of the big remodel. This was the room that was intended to be the dining room. It is not very big, and is right as you come in the front door. Our kitchen eating area is much larger so we never used this as a dining room anyway. Well Hubby decided to turn it into a little living room where he can go to read and maybe listen to music. So here we go......

First of all he added the french doors and the molding, this was just an opening before.

I painted the inside a color called Aztec Brick, it is really a warm cozy color. It looks better in person, the pictures make it too orange.

Every thing in here has been recycled from other parts of the house. We just got a new blind for the window. As you can see I haven't really done any decorating yet, and I need to put up some kind of window covering. Most of the things in here will be Hubby's so it's not going to be foo-fee at all
Here is looking out the doors to the stairs.
We also dry walled over the opening that went into the kitchen, and made a pantry in that spot.
I will have to take pictures of that as well.

So that's what we've been up to.

Now I need to tackle my craft room, again, YIKES!

Post Christmas

Well we had a quiet Christmas this year. Just dinner at our house with my in-laws and sister in-law and her husband. We don't have a very big family and usually go to Mexico this time of year, but have been unable to the last few years, and since we were doing some remodeling I didn't decorate very much. I did manage to put out some of my favorite things though.
Here is the Christmas Village we started collecting a few years ago. Hubby really likes it. It's on top of the fireplace.
My bottle brush tree collection, a couple Bethany Lowe pieces, vintage satin ornaments and one of my Christmas Cottages.
And a few things I put on a little table and the wall as you go into the kitchen. ( the thermostat kind of ruins the decor, but I tried to work around it :)

So there is my Little Christmas this year. Hope yours was Merry and Bright.

Hello,
Hope everyone is having a great week. We finally got the room done we were remodeling and now I am trying to decorate it. It is for Hubby so I am putting all the stuff he likes in there. And I actually got a little Christmas Decor up as well. I will have pictures later of everything. For now I just want to show one thing I managed to do.
This is a house I bought at my Friend Kim's store.
It is a cute sparkly white church covered in glitter and snow.
Well when I got it home I decided it needed to be Foo Feed up, so here is the after.

I am really loving the Turquoise this year.

Oh Christmas Tree?

Well, we have been so busy remodeling the house that I have'nt had much time for crafting or Blogging. And since everything is torn up I haven't yet decorated or put up a tree. I blame my husband because it was his idea to all this right now ;) He gets very bored as soon as the weather starts turning cold and he can't be outside working on things. Very type A personality. So I really hope to get a lot done this weekend so I can finally decorate. (We'll see). Any how, let me direct you to a fun blog where you can get all kinds of free holiday graphics to play with. Yea I know I'm late. (Story of my life). Any way it's never really too late for Halloween is it? I mean some artists and collectors do Halloween all year long. Besides I still have my decorations up so I thought I would share them just in case you didn't get enough yet. Some I made and others are from other Artists and things I bought.

Hooked On These Books

So I was in Walmart a few weeks back just kind of browsing around the book section cause I wanted something to read. I was thinking maybe a Romance, you know the kind, just something entertaining and mindless that you don't have to think about. When I happened to come across this. "Breaking Dawn"

It was in the teen section but it caught my eye and I picked it up and read the inside cover. It looked good, however, it was the fourth book in a series. So I looked around some more but they didn't have any of the previous books. (Bummer) Well I decided I wanted to read this Saga from the beginning and ended up buying all four books from Amazon. Yes it was kind of an impulse buy, but it ended up being well worth it. Since I started the first book "Twilight"I was hooked.

I quickly read it, then the second "New Moon"
and am now almost finished with the third.
"Eclipse"

I actually go to bed at 9:00 so I can read for an hour, ( or two as sometimes happens.) Oh yea, It,s a romance story between a high school girl and a vampire. Perfect for this time of year as Halloween approaches. There are also Werewolves. As I mentioned it is a teen book, so it's very clean. No sex or bad language. Which actually I wouldn't mind if there was a little sex, I need all the help I can get cause I'm 45 years old, pre-menopausal, and married for 25 years, ( if you get my drift here). But none the less, it is a great story, filled with a lot of suspense and wonderful characters. It was also made into a movie, I believe it's coming out November 21st. I'm not sure if I will want to see it though, Movies from books are usually a disappointment. (Like, The Devil Wears Prada)

So if you like this kind of thing I highly recommend these books.

Fourth Decor

I really enjoy making Holiday Decorations. Here is one of the things I made last week for the upcoming Fourth of July Holiday. Kind of a Patriotic star wand. I set it in a tin bucket of sand along with some Bethany Lowe tinsel sparklers.

Back in March I participated in a swap called The Queen Tea Swap. My swap partner was the very talented Sharon Stevens of http:/www.mustardseedoriginals.com/ and I received a lot of great things from her. My favorite is this wonderful felted figure she made and set on a vintage wooden block, isn't she just too cute!! She also sent me an embellished journal notebook, it is so pretty I just don't know if I can write in it. It will have to be for something very special I think. Thank you again Sharon!

Blogging Blues

OK, you know what is sad. Having not blogged in so long you forget your login information!

Yes it's true, I haven't done this in a while, AGAIN. Luckily I have a few friends who check and remind me I haven't blogged lately. Thanks guys.

I really wanted to focus on Blogging and Crafting this year and get my little business going again, I was doing O.K. til warm weather hit. It's hard to fit in a second career when you work 45 to 50 hours a week though. Well enough of my little pity party. I hope everyone is having a great Summer so far. One of the things I love about Summer is cooking on the BBQ. I don't really like to cook so almost every night I just throw some kind of meat on the grill and make a big salad to go with it. We just got a new grill and am I loving it! It even has a rotisserie, I'm going to attempt to roast a chicken this weekend. If anyone has any great, easy recipes for the BBQ let me know. I'd love to try them.

Well I'm only one day late to wish everyone a Happy May Day.

Been awhile since I posted again. We are in full time mode here at the family business, with Spring and Summer being our busy time of the year, I haven't had much time to craft or blog. We also haven't had our girls craft night for the last few weeks either.

The weather has been the usual up and down Colorado Spring with 75 degrees one day and 40 degrees the next, but we at least finally had some much needed moisture yesterday to help green things up a bit.

And since I haven't made anything lately, I just thought I'd show you some pictures of some new Landscaping Materials for Spring. Who knows, maybe it will give some one a little inspiration for their yards.

Home Again, Home Again.....

Well Hubby and I went on a much needed and deserved vacation. We got back a week ago, but it already feels like longer. I always get a little down when I come home from Mexico. I don't know if it's the traveling or that I just like it there so much I'm not ready to come back to reality. We went to a little resort just south of Mazatlan called Estrella Del Mar. It has 3 1/2 miles of private beach, nice little villas and a gorgeous golf course. We don't golf, but this place sure makes you want to learn how! We just spent most of our time relaxing, walking and enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean. It was so peaceful and soothing we could have easily spent another week there. Next time we are definitely going to stay longer. Here are some pictures to whet your appetite. I wish I knew how to put the sound of the ocean in with them. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone, Sorry, I've been a bad blogger again. Seems like days go by and I don't even realize how long it's been since I last posted.

It's Saturday night and just started snowing here, we are supposed to get about an inch by morning, but tomorrow is supposed to be warm and Sunny. We will see, as I've said before the weather here is crazy this time of year.

I was looking thru the pictures on my computer and came across this one. These are two of my dogs. The little one is Arlo, a Chihuahau-Rat Terrier mix and the other one Penny, we think is Beagle and Wiener Dog but we are not sure, she is one heck of a mouser though. She caught 4 this last week alone! The little dog says he helped, but I don't know. Anyway, they looked so cute here I just had to share.

And this is Sargent our Welsh Corgi, his name fits him very well, he always wants to be in charge.

And here is my latest creation, I am really into crowns right now for some reason. This was my first one. I have a few others in the works also.

And here is the craft night project from a few weeks ago. These were really fun to make and are for sale on my Etsy. I didn't get last weeks project done but will post as soon as it's ready. we have craft night in the basement of my dear friend Kim's store. She has an awesome country gift and decor shop called My Favorite Things. I am going to take pictures and showcase it on my blog soon. I can't wait to show it to everyone. It will be so much fun.

Signs of Spring

The first little signs of Spring are popping up here at my work place. The daffodils and hyacinths are peeking out of the ground and will soon be blooming

Woo Hoo, It's almost here. Of course we are supposed to get more snow tonight and tomorrow. After all it is March, our snowiest Month here in Colorado. In March 5 years ago we had 3 feet of snow in 24 hours. This really isn't normal, but it could happen again. They always say in Colorado if you don't like the weather just wait half an hour.

Wednesday Craft Night

Well craft night last Wednesday went pretty well. It was our second get together of our weekly craft-a-thon. We decided to make decorative cones for Easter. However, we were late getting started and weren't able to completely finish our projects. I also didn't do a very good job of photographing what we were doing, but I managed to get a few pictures.

First we painted our cardboard cones light pink, then waited for them to dry, and waited.........and waited........and waited.........
When they were finally dry we applied a vintage Easter Graphic to the cone.

Then we brushed watered down elmer's glue and sprinkled with pretty crystal glitter. Then we waited for them to dry. and waited..............and waited............and waited..........

And by this time is was getting late and we were getting tired. So we decided to finish our projects at home. Here is how mine turned out.

I put some sparkled trim around the lip and bottom and tied some green vintage seam binding to make the hanger. Then filled with pink paper filler. Now it just needs some candy in it.

Hmmm, my camera has the wrong date on it for some reason, just noticed that.

So there it is. The big project. Hope you enjoyed my first little crafting journey. I will work on improving the quality of post and pictures.

I Can't Stop

I always say I'm not going to try any new craft mediums and yet here I go again. I've been into paper crafting lately and have started making hang tags. Once you start the ideas just keep coming... I made some in this color with this stamp, oh wouldn't this look cute in this color and maybe a little glitter here and there and one of these on here, and before you know it it's snowballed into 50 different variations and so on...... Whew!!!!! That was fun.

So a couple of my friends are really into this now so we decided to have a get together every Wednesday night and make a new project every week. This week it will either be a crown or an Easter themed paper cone. Whatever we make I'm really looking forward to our little craft night and will be chronicling our progress to post on my Blog each week and maybe it can turn into some tutorials, which I've never done before but would love to try.

Until then I'm dreaming of different colored inks and sparkley glitter.

A Little Better

Well my craft room looks a lot better, now I just need to do something with the closet and make curtains for the window. It's definitely nicer to work in now and I found some long lost fabrics and made a few pillows. They are in the little cubbies in the pictures, I don't know if you can see them that well.

I went to Scrap Mania at Archivers last Friday night with a couple of my girlfriends, Valerie and Kimberly. For those of you that aren't familiar with Archivers it is a HUGE scrapbook supply store. They also have classes and the scrap mania's are where you take your scrapbook projects and work on it there and you get dinner, drinks and snacks, and they have freebies and drawings. None of us really do scrapbooking but we took other paper crafts to work on. Mostly we chatted and snacked. We were wild women and stayed out til 11:00 pm.LOL! I actually got one thing made, an altered match box for Valentine's Day.

Not bad for five hours work huh? Can you believe that's all I got done? Oh well it was fun to get out of the usual grind for awhile. Next time though we are just going to go to one of our houses instead of paying $15.00 to eat and shop. They must make a killing on these events.

Happy Birthday To Me?

Last Saturday was my 45th birthday. Wow, I can't believe I'm 45 already, wasn't I just 25 a few years ago? It was a pretty uneventful birthday. My husband was on duty. He is a Fighter Fighter and works 24 hour shifts every third day and his shift landed on my birthday this year. My youngest was at a speech meet all day and my oldest had stuff to do so I was pretty much on my own. Which is okay with me cause I wanted to spend the day working in my craft room anyway. Well I didn't get to, I had to go to the store, and then the guy showed up to tint the windows in my Volkswagon Beetle and then my Mother took me out to dinner and by the time I got home it was 10:00 pm. Where did the day go?

I finally got to work on my craft room last night though, it's looking pretty good, I'll take pictures to post of it soon. Going thru the boxes of material I found a lot of vintage linens and fabrics I forgot I had, I'm going to put some of them for sale on Etsy .

Studio Redo

Okay, so yesterday I started to reorganize and clean up my craft room, again. I've already done this a couple of times, but can't seem to get enough storage space. The problem is that we moved to this house four years ago and my new craft room is about half the size of my old one. I had a really big center island cabinet that was great for cutting out patterns and held tons of stuff. My sewing machine was on one side of it along with shelves that held all my fabrics. And one wall was lined with cabinets and had a work counter and peg board to hang all kinds of things on. I also had a store room to hold all the overflow. Ah memories.

So then we moved to our new house. I had my stuff set up in a corner of our unfinished basement. Not very condusive to my creativity, so for a couple of years I didn't get to do much. Then when we decided to finish the basement, most of my things went to storage. (and a lot of them are still there)
Well we finished the basement making a bigger bedroom for my college age son, a new bathroom and a small living area, along with a couple of storage closets. It is totally the man-cave now.

I then took over my son's old bedroom to make my own little art haven. Problem is, small room, too much stuff. So I am forever trying to cram it all in and still make it look nice.

Focus, Focus, Focus

Well I've decided that this year I really need to try to focus on just one and maybe two crafts. There are several things I like to do. I like to sew, knit, crochet, paint, make jewelry, some paper crafts, and other miscellaneous arts. I always have so many ideas floating around in my head and never enough time to do them, but I think that those who tend to focus only on one medium tend to be more successful. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. What do you think?

I also want to focus on my Blogging skills. I love reading other people's Blogs and find them very interesting. I don't, however, find myself very interesting and have a hard time coming up with things to say about myself. I guess I don't really need to just talk about myself and my latest projects though. After all there really aren't a lot of them to talk about since I'm not a professional. (Yet) LOL, but there's always hope.

So here's to a new year and hopefully some new improvements for me and my Blog.

Happy New Year

Hey Everybody, I've been a very bad blogger and haven't posted since November.
I had a really hard time getting into Christmas this year for some reason, didn't even put up a tree which the BOYS didn't seem to mind until Xmas eve when they said aren't we going to put up the tree this year? (Well you could have said something sooner). I did however put out my bottle brush tree collection and a small tinsel tree in the kitchen so I wasn't a complete Grinch.

Here is also a little glitter cottage I made, I put a few on Etsy. It's so hard finding these tiny bottle brush trees.
I really got into the glitter for these and the metalic paint.
I LOVE the hot pink!

Hubby and I got to get away for a couple of days to Glenwood Springs. It is a hot Sulpher Springs resort in the mountains about a three hour drive west of Denver and just north of Aspen. (we don't go there, LOL) It was very cold, but the pool is heated with the natural hot springs and is VERY warm. It's really neat to sit in the hot pool at night with all the steam rising around like fog. A lot of skiers go to the pool after skiing to soak their tired muscles. Since we are middle aged we don't need to ski to have tired muscles.

Oh, I'd like to be in that pool right now, or at least tonight. Well I'd better get to my laundry.

November's Gone

Wow, I can't believe November is gone already, it just flew by!
Next Wednesday I'm going on my first business trip ever. I'm going to Minnesota for a class on Alan Block retaining wall. (We sell landscape materials, like retaining wall and pavers.) Sounds real exciting huh? lol. But, I do get to go to the Mall of America, we'll be staying across the street from it. My boys are really jealous (about the Mall of course,not the classes). So I told them I'd take lots of pictures for them and maybe bring them something. I'll only be there 2 nights, probably not near enough time to see everything, but it will still be fun to get away. This will be the first time I've gone anywhere by myself for the last 24 years, kind of weird.

In other news I posted a new knitted scarf on Etsy and bought a showcase spot for tomorrow, we'll see how it goes.

Back To The Grind

It's so hard going back to work after a long holiday weekend. I have so much Christmas stuff I want to work on and not enough time to do it. We had a nice Thanksgiving. It was at our house this year and everything turned out great. I took pictures of the pretty table and decor and was going to post them, but I didn't have the memory card in and will have to transfer the pictures later. We had a nice relaxing break ( no mad Friday shopping), saw the movie Enchanted, it was really cute, had a family breakfast on Sunday morning and went to some friends house Sunday afternoon to watch the Denver Broncos lose in overtime. I really didn't care, I'm not much of a football fan anyway. Then it was home to get ready for Monday, watch Desperate Housewives and hit the hay.

I also got my ornaments for the Pink Ornament swap shipped out today. I have received one from Courtney at Tokyo Bunny. Thanks Courtney, it's really cute.
I'm going to post pictures when I get them all. Can't wait til they all get here, should be this week. So until then I'll go ahead and post the ornament I made.

Nothing New

I've been a bad girl,(or should I say boring). There is really nothing new. We have just been doing stuff around the house mostly to get ready for Thanksgiving cause it's at our house this year. So my Hubby is on the war path to make sure everything is perfect. (You'd think he was the wife.)
So therefore, I haven't got a lot of creative work done except a couple of scarfs I've been knitting to put on Etsy. (no pictures yet though).

Thanks to everyone who wrote and gave me some picture advice. I think I got some of the problem fixed. I found out I can adjust the levels in my photo program and it really helped so now I'm trying to change some of my not so great pictures with the fixed ones. It takes a lot of time, but things are pretty slow right now at my day job so I can do a lot of computer work there. Good thing I work for Family eh.

I also added the Blogs of my swap partners to my Favorites list. These are some really great and talented ladies. Can't wait to see what they all made for their Pink Ornaments.

Pink Ornament Swap

Yay,

I got my names today for the Pink Ornament Swap and I'm really excited! This is my first swap ever.
My ornaments are actually almost finished and I was going to post a sneak peak picture but I don't know if that would ruin the surprise to those receiving them or not.

I also got some pictures taken this weekend and got a couple of new items done for my Website and Etsy, so I'm pretty proud of myself right now. I'm having trouble with my pictures though, I just don't think they are very good. I need to make some kind of picture box or something for better lighting. Maybe someone has some tips?

Day of the Dead

Hello and Happy Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) to you all,

In case you don't know, Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican Celebration today to honor and remember relatives that have have passed away. The ancient indigenous peoples of Mexico believed that the souls of the dead returned each year to visit with their still-living relatives to celebrate with food, drink and festivities at a family reunion.

Families prepare shrines and altars in honor of the departed. They place offerings of food such as bread, beans, rice and chicken, (sometimes Beer or Tequila) lit candles, sweets - including skulls made of sugar - incense, yellow marigolds (zempasuchil), and a photo of the departed soul on a small decorated altar.

Day of the Dead celebrations include a day spent at the cemetary, cleaning and decorating family graves and decorating the plot or crypt with elaborate banners, votive candles and skeletons in festive colorful clothing posed at merrymaking. Often there is music and fireworks in the evening and families spend the entire night camped out in the cemetary, celebrating the deceased.

In other news I am really trying hard to get in the Christmas Spirit and get some things made. I actually got some ideas sketched out and am going to work on them this weekend.

Halloween Decor

I finally got some of my Halloween Decorations up, at least inside, I have yet to do the outside of my house. I LOVE Halloween, it's my very favorite holiday. Probably because it's in the Fall which is my favorite season as well. I used to love making costumes for the boys and taking them Trick-or-Treating. Now they are all grown up and just go off to their own Halloween activities. Oh well, such is life.

This is the fireplace in our living room, it's very basic and doesn't really have a mantle so I put this old mantle /shelf that I painted and added old ceiling tile to on top. It makes a nice backdrop for Holiday and seasonal decorating.

These pictures aren't the greatest, there is horrible light in this room.
It looks much better in person, and at night with the tea lites lit.

First Ever Blog

OK,
Here is my first ever blog. I'm pretty new to all this blog stuff. I just opened my first website and am still working out the bugs. I'm still trying to figure out how to get links on it and stuff like that, but it's going O.K. and I'm really learning a lot, even if it is the hard way by trial and error (LOL)

So for my first blog ever just let me say I'm very inspired by so many women that I have found by linking from one Blog to another and I hope to someday be as successful as they are .
Right now I work full time at my in laws business and have for the last four and a half years since closing my store. It's not really my bag, I'm stuck in an office most of the time and rarely get to to out at all during the day and I really miss the creativity of the store. So now I am trying to get going on the WWW and hope that if all goes well I can stay home and just create my things and make some money doing it.

So to end my first ever blog I will now attempt to download some pictures of my now closed little store to give you a sense of my style (and show some of the things I still need to get rid of).
